Having travelled to the Phillipines numerous times, I witnessed a few storms that are much more precarious than just a lightning show. These are storms where you can sense, even in the safety of home, the danger, unease; an awareness of the ferocity of the event.

Similarly in life, we all get hit with storms, some that threaten to topple our very being. They are unavoidable, it could be financial, relationship, health issues, or work related. The reality is we all face seasons of joy and of sadness. In Matthew 7:24-27 is the story of the wise and foolish builders, both have built a house, one on sand, one on

In Matthew 7:24-27 is the story of the wise and foolish builders, both have built a house, one on sand, one on rock. Both houses have to weather a storm, one house falls, one stands – albeit weather beaten, but still strong.

With so many builders in our area, it is no secret that foundations need to be strong. That the base needs to be sturdy to support that built atop.

Jesus teaches, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall”. (Matthew 7:24-25)

Whatever season you are facing, you can stand strong if your foundations are secure. Jesus offers a rock on which any storm can be weathered, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

There is a way out of your stress, your burdens of health, relationship issues, financial difficulty, there is a way that leads to joy and peace. But it does take a decision, a life choice that will determine whether your foundations are on rock or sand.

Any storm can be weathered providing your foundations are strong. If you are facing a storm that has crashed your foundations, get in touch with your local church, and ask the leaders about how to build on foundations of rock.
