Across New South Wales, more than 70,000 NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers help protect lives and property, responding not only to bushfires but also floods, storms and motor vehicle accidents. Here in Galston, our brigade proudly continues that tradition, standing ready to respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Many people think volunteering with the RFS means fighting fires, but there is so much more to being part of a brigade. We rely on a diverse team of volunteers with a wide range of skills and interests. There are opportunities in communications and radio operations, logistics and catering, community education, training, administration, and operational firefighting.
Whatever your background, experience, or fitness level, there is a role where you can make a genuine difference. Every contribution helps strengthen our brigade and supports the wider Galston community.

The NSW RFS provides comprehensive, nationally recognised training at no cost, equipping volunteers with valuable skills that extend well beyond emergency response. You’ll also receive all the protective clothing and equipment you need, along with ongoing support to help you develop confidence in your role.
