Galston Early Learning Centre Honours RFS Volunteers

RFS volunteers honored with certificate and flowers at community event in Galston.
Galston Early Learning Centre educators and families recently gathered at Galston Uniting Church for the Rural Fire Service (RFS) Blessing Service, and the children arrived with gifts in hand. They had made handmade cards and native seed bombs to thank local RFS volunteers for their care, courage and dedication.

Amy Kosilo led and organised the appreciation project, working alongside the centre’s Preschool team. Galston Uniting Church marked her efforts at the service, presenting her with flowers and a certificate in recognition of her commitment and hard work.

The project gave the children a chance to think about their connection with nature, their community and caring for Country. It also built on the centre’s ongoing focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Later in the month, Amy Kosilo, Catherine Koutlis and Daniela Palmer attended the 2026 NSW Early Years Nature Connections Conference, themed Nature Play and Sustainability – Connecting People and Planet. The three came away with fresh inspiration and motivation to strengthen the centre’s links with the community, deepen its sustainability practices and create more ways for children to connect with and care for the land around them.

The centre says the experiences reinforce its purpose of building strong connections between children, community, nature and Country. It plans to keep growing its Bush Program, giving children room to explore, wonder, learn and develop a genuine sense of responsibility for the natural world.
