Dural Squash and Fitness opened its doors on the 2nd May 1977; 40 years this May!
The Proprietors, Ian and Roslyn Bell, have lived in the area during this time. Their two boys, Adam and Kevin, were involved in the running of the centre and the eldest still plays squash. There were no indoor sporting facilities at the time and the area was quite rural.
Squash became extremely popular during the eighties at the 12 court centre, with inhouse and external competitions, junior club, casual bookings and a very successful social club.
During the day, the schools would use the facilities for sporting activities.
Over the years, Dural Squash has provided the local community with a much-needed sporting facility. Juniors became adults and now their children are playing here as adults!
The popularity of squash has declined over the years, but the courts have 3 fitness rooms downstairs, where selfdefence, yoga/pilates, ballet and dance classes are held during the day and evening.
In June 2017, the weekend of the 24th and 25th, Dural Squash will be hosting the NSW Masters tournament.
