D-CAF Galston Assists Locals With Dementia

D-Caf Galston is a friendly and social group that meets every Monday from 10am–12noon, welcoming those living with dementia and a family member/carer to a delightful morning of friendship and activities.

Take part in gentle exercises (with the guidance of a specially trained Exercise Physiotherapist), art classes, games, music and singing led by talented Galston resident Max Cowdroy. Guest speakers include members of the group talking about their hobbies and life stories, and a visit by Zoe the beautiful white Labrador with her owner Val, and of course morning tea. Friendships continue to grow, and information and resources are shared.

D-Caf is held at The Galston Community Health Centre, 17 Arcadia Rd, Galston and is a joint program with KNC and Rotary Club.

KNC Care provides social support for older Australians and is a Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) funded by the Department of Health through My Aged Care.

The KNC Care Program Galston offers assistance with shopping and transport to essential medical and other appointments for older residents of Sydney North who are unable to manage regular transport.

For details about The Dementia Café, transport and shopping services and eligibility, contact Linda Wake, the KNC Volunteer and Transport Coordinator at the Galston Community Health Centre, on 0448 971 786
