Local Team to take on the inaugural 60km Sunshine Coastrek in aid of the Fred Hollows Foundation

Dural and Glenorie residents Cathy Rawnsley, Mel Luksich and Paul & Caroline Payton will attempt to hike the first Sunshine Coastrek from Caloundra to Noosa on the 28th July in an effort to raise money to give the gift of sight to the needlessly blind. It’s a grueling 60km, much of it walking for long periods along soft sand beaches, and it will start and finish in the dark. They expect it to take them at least 14 hours to complete, though that depends on how many stops they need to change socks and dress blisters!

Every team taking part in Coastrek pledges to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation, so Team Thermatech has organized a fantastic raffle. First prize is a $600 Voucher from Compass Travel Galston donated by The Bendigo Bank Galston. Other prizes include a 6 months Gym Membership at Resolution Fitness for Life in Dural, an iPad, a Thermatech Soft Shell Jacket, Eddy Finn Ukulele packs and Mumm champagne.

Anyone wishing to help their efforts and make a donation can do so on-line by going to Sunshine.Coastrek.com.au and searching for Team Thermatech. Or if you’d like to purchase raffle tickets, please go to eventbrite.com.au and search Team Thermatech Sunshine Coastrek Raffle. $25 can restore someone’s sight.
