Local Schools Win in Grant Announcement

By Matt Kean

Local P&C Associations along with community groups will benefit from an injection of funds announced this week by Member for Hornsby Matt Kean.

After a tough two years, 13 community organisations have received the good news they will be receiving the funds they need to make upgrades to their facilities.

“I was so pleased to be able to deliver the good news to volunteers and community groups around Hornsby who can now get to work to make improvements without having to dip into their own fundraising,” Mr Kean said.

“I was particularly pleased to help local school P&C Associations at Galston Public, Arcadia Public and Galston High School,” he said.

Galston High School P&C Association will use the $30,000 to transform an unused space into STEM teaching facility.

While Galston Public School P&C Association will be using the $35,444 to create a safe and accessible playground.

“I can’t wait to go check out the STEM space and new playground once these projects have been completed,” Mr Kean said.

OTHER SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS INCLUDE:
• Arcadia Public School P&C Association – $9,000
• Warrah Society – $20,000 • Scouts NSW – $8,500
• N orthern District Hockey Association – $350,00

The Community Building Partnership program funds projects each year to benefit a range of community groups across the state.

“We have some amazing local community groups. I thank them for the wonderful work they do and Ilook forward to these projects coming to life,” Mr Kean said.

Next year, there will be another $400,000 to allocate in Hornsby with applications for the 2022 program open in early 2022.

“I encourage all local groups to get their application in and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate contact my Hornsby electorate office on 9476 3411,” Mr Kean said.
