Julian Leeser MP has announced that there will be a new Small Cell in Arcadia that will improve mobile phone coverage.
“The community and I have fought hard for better mobile coverage in Arcadia and I am pleased to announce our government is investing in the Arcadia community,” Julian Leeser MP said.
“Residents in Arcadia and the surrounding suburbs struggle on a daily basis with poor mobile phone coverage.
“This small cell is badly needed and will make a big difference to the lives of residents by delivering better mobile phone coverage.”
The new Telstra Small Cell will be delivered as part of the Liberal and Nationals Round 3 Mobile Black Spot Program that has seen more than 696 active mobile stations established to improve mobile phone coverage to people living, working, and travelling in regional and remote parts of the country.
Bridget McKenzie, Minister for Regional Services, Local Government and Decentralisation, said that reliable and effective mobile communications are a key driver of the enormous contribution that our regions make to Australia’s economic growth.
“Greater access to mobile services in regional Australia improve the ability to keep in contact with family and friends; allow better access by farmers to online services and help local businesses grow by making these areas more attractive to tourists,” Minister McKenzie said.
“Investing in mobile technology needs to be seen as just as critical as investing in traditional infrastructure like roads, rail and bridges.
“By paying down debt and growing the economy, we can afford to deliver priorities for local communities.”
