Horse Rescued from Dam in Castlereagh

Today, rescue operators from the NSW SES Hawkesbury Unit worked with colleagues from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 102 RegentvilleFire and Rescue NSW Station 063 BlacktownNSW RFS – Castlereagh Brigade and Londonderry Rural Fire Brigade and NSW Police to rescue 26 year old warmblood mare, Fable, from a dam in Castlereagh.
Vet, Amélie from Agnes Banks Equine Clinic, donned a helmet, life jacket and safety line to entered the muddy water to sedate the mare.
Once sedated, the Fable was carefully rigged with slings and skidded out of the dam on large plastic sheets (Rescue Glide sheets) and moved well away from the dam to a nice flat area to recover.
NSW SES Hawkesbury Unit left Fable standing and receiving treatment from a happy Vet and a very relieved owner.
Great team effort 🧡.
