I was pleased to help The Crusaders Union provide additional shade for their Galston campers with a Community Building Partnership grant of $10,000.
The program assists community groups to make upgrades to their facilities, purchase equipment or provide essential repairs. The Crusaders Union is one of 15 community groups who have benefited from Community Building Partnership grants from my office.
With many campers attending the Galston camp during summer months the camp was desperately in need of shade over the low ropes course.
“It was a pleasure to be able to provide the Galston camp with protection for campers from the hot sun.”
The Galston Gorge camp can sleep up to 220 guests and sees 10,000 kids come through the doors each year. They have modern lodges with ensuite bathrooms and lounge areas and campers can enjoy many different activities during their stay.
“I know when I was a kid I would have loved to have come out to this camp to do the numerous activities they have on offer,” Mr Kean said.
The shade sails are already up and I was pleased to get a chance to have a go while visiting the camp recently.
I thank the Crusaders Union for this wonderful facility and for all they do in our local community.
