First Live It Up festival is a great success

The very first Live It Up Sydney Hills youth festival was held at Balcombe Heights Estate on Sunday 10 April as part of national Youth Week celebrations. The festival brought together a number of past events and local youth services to create a new and improved Youth Week celebration.

The festival drew a crowd of youth across a spread of ages who took advantage of the perfect weather and fantastic array of activities on offer from bubble soccer, to rock climbing, to skateboarding, outdoor cinema and everything in between.

Festival goers also had the opportunity to meet with local youth teams and service providers and learn about the great youth programs that are run throughout the year across The Hills Shire.

Rowena Stulajter, Chief Executive Officer for 2Realise, said the event provided both parents and youth with the unique chance to meet local youth services.

“As 2realise is currently running a weekly Youth Outreach program at the skate park, we knew a number of the young people who came along but it was great to promote the youth outreach to a wider audience,” said Ms Stulajter.

“The 2realise team had opportunity to also talk to parents about not only what we do but about the other service providers that were also there. It was a great opportunity to share with the community the diverse range of community services that they can tap into here in The Hills.”

Marco Capobianco, co-founder of Conviction Group and his team ran a BBQ on the day which afforded them a great opportunity to speak with festival goers.

“The most enjoyable part of the day was Conviction Group’s team connecting with young people in the community and providing a BBQ for the event. We had a fantastic day and always enjoy working together with other youth focused organisations and services in our local community,” Mr Capobianco said.

The success of the first Live It Up youth festival has highlighted the importance of youth events and services within The Hills community and next year’s festival promises to be even bigger and more exciting.
