A few days ago, I was pleased to roll up my sleeve and get my booster shot. As we continue to face the COVID-19 pandemic vaccination is the key to protecting you and your loved ones from getting seriously sick from the virus.
The community of Hornsby was amazing last year with our vaccinations rates leading the way and currently we have more than 95% of our community having received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
I have no doubt many of you are now eligible for your booster shots which can be given at your GP, pharmacy or at one of the many NSW Health vaccination clinics.
It is also welcome news we can now see our 5-11 year old’s vaccinated and I have heard many stories of kids bravely getting their jab.
Your booster shot can be given once you have reached 3 or more months from your first two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Studies show that the immunity created by COVID-19 vaccines begins to wane over time.
A booster dose helps to strengthen your immune system and improve your long-term protection against serious illness from the COVID-19 virus.
The Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines are recommended as supporters in Australia. Although not preferred, the AstraZeneca vaccine can be given as a booster for those who are unable to have an mRNA vaccine for medical reasons.
If you haven’t booked in your booster shot and you are eligible, do it today. Book via nsw.gov.au
