Celebrating Small Business in Hornsby

October was Small Business month and it is was a chance to celebrate some of the great local businesses like Cameron’s Nursery in Arcadia.

Cameron’s Nursery is a specialist production wholesale nursery which has been operating from Arcadia since 1992. They specialise in perennials, Rosemary, Lavender and ground covers.

Sonja and her team have won numerous environmental awards and are by far one of the great success stories coming out of Hornsby. In the past 12 months they have gone through a growth period and currently employ 22 staff.

Spring is their busiest season as they supply all sectors of the nursery and landscape industry throughout the East Coast states, which includes big names like Bunnings. Small business isn’t easy but Sonja and Andy have worked hard to build their business into the great success story it is today.

There are 765,000 small to medium businesses in New South Wales who employ 1.65 million people and many of those are right here in Hornsby.

The NSW State Government is committed to ensuring small business have what they need to not just survive but thrive. Earlier in the year the NSW State Government lifted the payroll tax threshold from the current level of $750,000 to $1 million by 2021-22. This will help over 5,000 businesses who now will no longer have to pay the tax.

I want to congratulate Cameron’s Nursery on their hard work along with all the wonderful small businesses in Hornsby.
