Arcadia Public School Opens up New Library Facilities

Arcadia Public School new library facilities in a bright classroom.
Arcadia Public School has a refreshed library, and staff say it has become the school’s heart. Every class spends time there each week for Science and Library lessons taught by principal Mrs Belinda Reedman. Pupils also use the room to access resources and to take part in the school’s high potential Reading and Mathematics programs.

The space looks different at lunchtime. Through the Wellbeing Wagon, children play games like Uno and Celebrity Head with friends, or get stuck into papercraft. Others head to the STEM tables to design, build and solve problems with cardboard, gears, marble runs, dominoes and more.

The library also serves the wider community. It hosts parent meetings and school functions, and welcomes visits from authors and experts. Before and after school, it is the home of the on-site Out of School Hours service, which supports families beyond the school day.

The school’s P&C committee and the parents who backed it led the makeover. Their fundraising paid for new lounge seating, bookcases, ergonomic student chairs, adjustable collaborative tables and furniture for quiet work. With the school adding its own contribution, the room is now flexible enough for children to learn, create and connect.

The school is also welcoming new families. There are vacancies for all grades in 2026, and Kindergarten enrolments for 2027 are open to local and non-local families. A Kindergarten transition program for enrolled students starts in Term 4, so children and parents can get to know the school and feel part of the Arcadia and local community before the first day.

Families can arrange a personal tour with Mrs Reedman by calling the office on 9653 1207 or emailing [email protected].
