$10,000 GRANT HELPS PATHWAYS COMMUNITY COUNSELLING CLINIC MAINTAIN HIGH STANDARDS OFFERING COUNSELLING SESSIONS TO LOCAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean was thrilled to deliver a cheque for $10,000 to Pathways Community Counselling clinic. This counselling clinic provides counselling services at low cost to any and all community members. It was begun by Pathways Psychology Institute, and their graduates and advanced students offer confidential counselling to those in need of a place to talk through difficult issues. These funds will support the counsellors to have quality supervision and ongoing professional development, maintaining an excellent counselling service available to everyone in the local Hills community.

Both the training institute (www. pathwayspsychology.com.au) and the Counselling clinic are located in Galston. At the training institute students can study a Diploma of Counselling or a Graduate Diploma of Trauma-Informed Processwork Psychotherapy. This Graduate Diploma is the first Government accredited training program of its kind in Australia.

Pathways offers students the opportunity to learn both the best known mainstream models, as well as learning the latest developments in Trauma therapy, Processwork psychotherapy and other holistic methodologies. Class numbers are kept small to allow students to receive personalised supervision and guidance as they develop their growing skills.

“It is so important we are able to help schools like Pathways continue to do the great work they do in our community,” Mr Kean said.

Owner Yelena Udy has worked hard to ensure that students who leave the school are compassionate professional counsellors who have the best skills they need to change lives.

Yelena Udy explained that “as students go through our courses, they are learning practical skills to help others, but it is also a special personal journey of growth and of deepening their awareness on so many levels.
