Dural Public School Raises Nearly $12,000 for Leukaemia Foundation in World’s Greatest Shave Event

Last week, Dural Public School took part in the World’s Greatest Shave, and it was pretty cool. 14 of my friends, a teacher and I, decided to shave our heads and or dye our hair blue to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation, which helps people with blood cancer and supports research.

We did really well with the fundraising – we raised $11,289! We also sold sausages at a barbecue, selling 250 of them and making an extra $250. Our school’s P & C matched the money from the sausages, and we got some more donations through flexischools, bringing our total to almost $12,000. We also came second in the whole of NSW on the primary school leaderboard.

We want to thank Romeo from Romeo’s at Dural for shaving our heads, Walkers Meats at Galston for donating the sausages, and Party Jay for donating cans of coloured hair spray and balloons. Without them, our event wouldn’t have been as successful.

It’s great to see our community coming together for such an important cause and although were not changing the world, we knew we could at least make a difference to people’s lives.
