Warrah Seeks Community Support for Sustainable Livestock Project to Strengthen Connections and Protect the Environment.

Warrah Society, in collaboration with Mr. Julian Leeser MP, Federal Member for Berowra, is seeking Commonwealth Government funding for a sustainable livestock management project at our Dural campus — and we need YOUR support to make it happen!

This project will create opportunities for community members to engage with sustainable farming practices while addressing local bushfire hazards. Planned activities include hands-on workshops and livestock programs that connect people with eco-friendly land management techniques, including the use of goats for natural weed control to reduce flammable vegetation and bushfire risk. Additional plans include installing wildlife-friendly fencing, a livestock shelter, and a veterinary-grade cattle crush to support animal welfare and safety.

“This initiative by Warrah Society aligns with our shared goal of fostering sustainable, community- focused projects that benefit the local environment and bring people together,” said Mr. Julian Leeser MP. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the Berowra community to lead by example in environmental resilience, and I’m proud to support Warrah’s efforts.”

“Our mission at Warrah is to create an inclusive environment where community-centered initiatives flourish,” said Delia Gray, CEO of Warrah Society. “This project is a unique opportunity for the community to engage with sustainable practices that benefit both people and the environment, while fostering meaningful connections with people with disabilities.”

More than 5,000 individuals, including Warrah’s residents, students, farm shop visitors, and volunteers, are expected to benefit from this initiative. By creating enriching educational experiences, we aim to foster sustainable land management practices that will impact the community for years to come.
