Students get an inside look into State Politics

Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP invited student leaders from local primary schools to Parliament House to see what a day in politics is like for our state representatives.

Eighty students attended the morning tea and tour along with parents, teachers and Principals. The students toured the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council before joining Mr Kean for a special guest visit from Manly Sea Eagles hooker Apisai Koroisau, Sydney Swifts Paige Hadley and Emily van Egmond from the Matildas.

With both houses sitting it was a busy week in Parliament but Premier Gladys Berejiklian dropped by to ask the students what issues are important to them.

“Getting a chance to see first-hand how Parliament works and to provide feedback directly to the Premier on politics and government is hands on learning for these students,” Mr Kean said.

Guest speakers Paige, Apisai and Emily told the students getting to the top takes hard work and determination. Mr Kean hopes the students are inspired to continue to work towards their goals and chase their dreams.

“These kids are the next generation of sports stars, doctors, teachers and community leaders. I hope they are able to continue to grow as leaders and use their skills to service our community,” Mr Kean said.
