The annual Run For The Hills, which raises money for charity while encouraging locals to enjoy the outdoors, will be held from 8am at Bella Vista Farm on Sunday, September 8.
Organisers Castle Hill Rotary Club are expecting more than 500 runners and are aiming to raise upwards of $50,000 for Positive Vibes foundations, Youth Insearch & Youth Off The Streets and the Rotary Foundation. This is Castle Hill Rotary’s annual fundraiser for these charities.
Run For the Hills, previously named cross country challenge, has been held for eight years. Events start from 8am – there are three start times depending on distance and experience. It will be conducted within the grounds of Bella Vista Farm, on three courses presented in a cross-country format, almost all on grass. While it is not a race, electronic timing facilities are available to record your actual running time if required.
“Joining the Run For The Hills event is a fantastic way to support youth mental health while enjoying the historic Bella Vista Farm,” said Event Coordinator Nik Fox.
“Whether you’re an experienced runner or just looking to have a fun family morning out, this event offers something for everyone including the pooch, with 3.4km, 6.8km, and 10.2km courses. Plus, there are market stalls, face painting for the kids, coffee, and food stalls to keep the whole family entertained.
“If you’re hesitant, remember it’s not just about the run — it’s about community, fresh air, and contributing to a cause that truly matters. Think of it as more than just a run. It’s your chance to lace up for a cause, breathe in the fresh morning air, and be part of something bigger than yourself.
“Whether you’re tackling the course or simply enjoying the festivities, you’ll be surrounded by supportive, like-minded people every step of the way.”
Nik, who runs the Punch Love Women’s Fitness in Windsor, said the inspiration behind Run For The Hills came from a desire to combine fitness, community spirit, and raising awareness for youth mental health. She said it’s an event that leaves participants feeling accomplished and connected.
The charities being supported this year:
• Youth Off The Streets focusing on transforming the lives of the 25% of all homeless people aged 12-24.
• Youth Insearch runs an early-intervention program of counselling, support, mentoring and empowerment for at-risk young people
|• The Positive Vibes Foundation runs programs promoting positive mental health in the Hills district.
