GALSTON PUBLIC SCHOOL

By Carole Weiss

Generous donations from our wonderful parents who supported the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser enabled $4735.38 to be raised for this excellent cause. All the money will go to the Heart Foundation for vital heart research and education programs.

Jeans for Genes Mufti Day organised by the School Representative Council (SRC) in Term 3 raised $270. Students wore jeans with their favourite sporting team’s colours on the day and made a gold coin donation. Money raised on the day was donated to the Children’s Medical Research Institute to aid research for cures of genetic medical conditions.

In Week 8 of this Term our students took part in R U OK? Day which was designed to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling with life. Students engaged in age-appropriate lessons designed by the R U OK? Charity to teach them about friendship, social awareness and emotional intelligence. As well as looking for signs that a friend may need help, how to approach them and where to go for help. Students were encouraged to wear mufti clothes with ‘a touch of yellow’ and make a gold coin donation.

To promote developing skills and promoting active/healthy lifestyles students began weekly sessions with basketball coaches. These sessions will be held for the rest of the term.

Due to COVID restrictions our Kindergarten Parent Information evening and morning Orientations at this stage will be unable to be held. However, if you are thinking of enrolling your child please contact the school to find out about the wonderful programs which have been planned for Kindergarten children in 2021.

So if you would like to know more about our stunning school, please contact the school office (9653 2062) and any questions you have, will be happily answered.
