For many families in Berowra, home ownership feels further out of reach than ever before. Rising house prices, increasing rents, and limited housing supply have made it difficult for first-home buyers and young families to stay in the area.
Parents worry as their children move away because they simply can’t afford to buy locally. I want Australian to own their own home. The Liberal Party has a plan to make homeownership achievable again.
We will introduce a Super Home Buyer Scheme, allowing individuals to access up to $50,000 of their superannuation for a deposit, giving young people a much-needed boost towards purchasing their first home.
We will also pause foreign investors and temporary residents purchasing existing homes, which is currently crowding Australians out.
Our migration levels are also exceeding the rate at which new homes are being built. That is why we will reduce the migration intake by 25 per cent over the next two years – to allow housing supply to finally catch up with demand.
By implementing policies that reduce demand and provide targeted financial support, we can help families in Berowra secure a place to call their own. I want to ensure home ownership remains a reality for future generations in our community.
