R U OK? Day brought the Pacific Hills Christian School community together with thousands of Australians, and it asked students to do something simple: check in on one another.
Through activities, discussions, and conversations, the school encouraged students to notice the people around them and ask if they were doing all right. The message was that one small question can have a profound impact, and that “Are you OK?” is more than a slogan.
The focus on connection comes at a time when young people are carrying a lot. Academic pressure, social expectations, digital influences and a constant stream of information all compete for their attention. Technology has brought real benefits, but it has also helped build a culture where comparison, anxiety and isolation can quietly take hold, often without anyone noticing. In a world that never seems to slow down, conversations about mental health matter more than ever.
At the heart of the day was the idea that everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and supported. Students were reminded that their worth is not set by their grades, their sporting achievements, their number of social media followers or the opinions of others. For the school community, it is found in the unchanging truth that each of them is known and loved by God.
