Northconnex… A Great End To A Challenging Year

By Julian Leeser

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas.

This year has been incredibly challenging, however we have plenty of reason for optimism.

While many people have lost their jobs through this pandemic, many of those have now resumed work again. Our cafes are open, businesses operating and schools are back having adapted to the new normal. We are faring far better than many other countries.

This year has brought out the best in Australians with the vast majority working together to tackle the challenges by supporting one another, supporting businesses, and following the instructions to isolate where possible, for the safety of everyone.

The opening of NorthConnex has also made for a great end to the year, returning Pennant Hills Road to our community.

For a generation our community has been calling for a solution to the traffic problems on Pennant Hills Rd and it’s finally here.

Pennant Hills Road is much quieter and there is a remarkable difference in travel around the electorate as well as improved safety and better air quality.

I keep hearing stories of how it has made such a difference in the lives of regular users of the road:

“Driving along Pennant Hills Road is a dream now… no trucks, no traffic. Love it!” —Ramani

“So quiet driving through Hornsby I thought I had accidentally missed a public holiday this morning.” —Victoria

“Haven’t seen it this quiet since the Olympic flame in 2000 making its way to Homebush!” —Maxina

I hope you and your family have a well-earned break over Christmas. Please remain vigilant about remaining COVID safe, and enjoy this time with your family and friends.

At this time I’d like to spare a thought for everyone in our community who is not with their families over Christmas because they are sacrificing their time to keep our community safe through the work they are doing in the RFS or SES. Our community is always grateful for their service.Christmas.
