Mount Tomah Road Work to Cause Traffic Changes

Drivers travelling through Mount Tomah face months of altered conditions as Transport for NSW begins major slope stabilisation and pavement work on the Bells Line of Road.

The project runs for 11 weeks, starting Monday 13 July and wrapping up Friday 2 October, weather permitting. Day shifts operate from 7 am to 5 pm on weekdays, while night crews work 7 pm to 5 am, Monday through Thursday.

Work pauses each week from Friday evening, giving motorists a clear run through the weekend. There is no work scheduled for Friday nights, Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays.

While work is underway, a 40 km/h speed limit applies, along with a 24-hour single-lane closure from Monday to Friday. Pilot vehicles will lead traffic through the site during each shift to keep things moving safely.

The road stays open throughout, though Transport for NSW is asking drivers to budget an extra five minutes for the trip.

The timing accounts for the ongoing closure of Victoria Pass, with authorities staging works across the Blue Mountains region to avoid compounding delays for local communities.

Updates are available by calling 132 701, visiting the Live Traffic NSW website, or through the Live Traffic NSW app.
