Work has now begun in Galston Village, with construction underway on a major public domain upgrade that will reshape the village centre over the next year.
Hornsby Shire Council marked the beginning of works with a sod-turning ceremony, launching a project that aims to improve the appearance, accessibility and safety of the village for residents, visitors and commuters.
The works will introduce a range of new public amenities, including landscaped garden areas, outdoor seating, additional angled parking and upgraded signage. The park on the main street corner will also be completely renewed as part of the project.

Pedestrian safety is a key focus of the upgrade, with raised crossings, wider and improved footpaths, enhanced street lighting and better bus stop facilities, including new shelters, to be installed. New bike racks will also be added, while the High Pedestrian Activity Area will be upgraded and the village speed limit reduced to 40km/h.
Mayor Warren Waddell said the project had been carefully designed to enhance the village while maintaining the character that makes Galston unique.
The upgrade follows several years of planning and community consultation, with feedback helping to shape the final design of the Galston Village Public Domain Plan.
Construction is expected to be completed by Spring 2027, subject to weather conditions.
