FREE winter bushwalks return across Hornsby Shire

Hornsby Shire Council's free bushwalks

Hornsby Shire Council has released a new program of free guided bushwalks across some of the area’s best-known natural reserves this winter.

Running throughout July and August, the program features walks for a range of fitness levels, from relaxed beginner-friendly outings to more challenging hikes for experienced bushwalkers.

Led by knowledgeable guides, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Shire’s native plants, wildlife and cultural history while exploring local bushland.

This year’s winter program includes:

  • Crusher Plant Spotlight Walk, Hornsby – Thursday, 9 July
  • Refuge Rock Bushwalk, Cherrybrook – Friday, 10 July
  • Florence Cotton Walk, Hornsby – Saturday, 18 July
  • Tippers and Western Lookouts Bushwalk, Cowan – Sunday, 26 July

The guided walks form part of Hornsby Shire Council’s year-round bushwalking program, which highlights different parts of the Bushland Shire across the changing seasons.

Mayor Warren Waddell encouraged residents to take advantage of the cooler weather to experience the area’s natural environment.

The walks are exclusively available to Hornsby Shire residents, with bookings opening one month before each event. As places are limited and the walks are popular, early registration is recommended.
