Volunteer Drivers Needed For Elderly

KNC is looking for volunteer drivers from the local community to transport elderly residents to their appointments.

KNC Transport and Volunteer Coordinator Linda Wake, who is based at the Galston Community Health Centre, said the volunteer service involved picking a client up from their home in the Galston, Dural, Arcadia, Glenorie areas, and taking them to the surgery, hospital or supermarket and bringing them home again.

Volunteers receive a kilometer allowance, on distance driven, to cover fuel costs.

KNC volunteer driver David Wright (a Galston resident) said it was “rewarding and a pleasure to drive people who are over 65 and are unable to drive to their doctor’s or hospital appointments or on a shopping trip once or twice a week”.

Contact Linda on 9485 7599 if you would like to volunteer
