Riding to Raise funds for Children’s Charities. London to Download Festival – 7-9th June 275kms.
I wonder how many residents realise we have an Australian Heavy Metal Music promoter in our midst. If you have ever visited Divine Infusions at Round Corner, or Glenorie Growers Market, you have probably seen Xina and her husband Chris. Chris and Xina have been residents in Dural for around 5 years. Chris seems so placid and quiet in the shop, but I bet that changes on tour…….
Chris Maric works with, and represents, some of the biggest metal and rock labels and promoters in the world, including EVP, Metal Blade, Season Of Mist, Napalm Records Relapse, UDR, Live Nation, Destroy All Lines, Direct Touring, Wild Thing Presents and many more and also looks after a string of local Aussie bands from King Parrot to newly formed bands just starting out.
In June, Chris will return to Europe for the summer festival season, attending Download in the UK, Hellfest in France and Copenhell in Denmark where many of the acts he reps will be performing.
Chris is cycling with Carl Neumann. Carl is the Owner and Editor of Australia’s leading heavy music publication Heavy Magazine. Carl will be covering Download and Hellfest with Australian exclusive specials in the magazine and online.
About heavy metal truants
Heavy Metal Truants is the world’s first Heavy Metal Charity Bicycle Ride, The brain child of former Metal Hammer editor-in-chief Alexander Milas and Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood. It’s three days, 275 kms from London to Castle Donington & The Download Festival
In short, it’s about the brother and sisterhood of Metal uniting around some very worthy causes – in this case, Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Childline – to raise money for children who need it most.
HELP CHRIS RAISE MUCH NEEDED DONATIONS
Day 1 of the ride will be Chris’s 40th Birthday, so consider a donation as like buying him a couple of beers to sink at the end of that long day!
Each rider has pledged to raise $2,200, so their target is $4,400. Please consider supporting them by going to www.justgiving.com/australiantruants and pledging your support
