GPS Warrior Colour Run 2019

Glenorie Public School’s P&C recently held its 2nd Biannual GPS Warrior Colour run 2019 on Friday 20th September. It started as a health initiative for the kids and turned into an amazing fun filled day full of Fitness, Challenges, and Community involvement for everyone.

All students who registered, gained their fundraising card and an online link and were asked to go out and gain sponsorship to complete the obstacle course. All students completed the course in record time and were able to have a laugh and cheer along the way. Not only did they have fun with their peers, teachers and parents but Glenorie Fire Brigade and Hornsby Police station joined in giving support to our community and our children. “A wonderful event to show our commitment and support to our community”. Our Local Hornsby Police Officer joined in the fun with the teachers and parents race. One of our Students said “Its nice to see the police having fun with us”.

This year we surprised the kids with “Kyle Jeffery, a NRL player from the North Sydney Bears. Kyle opened the event and motivated our kids. They were excited with cheer!!

All students were challenged to an inflatable obstacle to start the race, then on to further 12 obstacles (Sack race, Hanging Noodle structure, Fairy garden with bubbles, Hay Barrel jump-overs,

Army net crawls, Tractor Tyre Runs, Mud Rolls and water sprayed from a fire truck, Rock climbing wall, abseil and not colour bomb stations!!!! This was the forgetting students favourite obstacle “Running through the colours was so much FUN!!”). All the students were timed and ran to the finish line to cheer on their house colours. It’s not about the fastest runner but the teamwork of the house colours working together to get every student to the finish line in the shortest amount of time. Year 6 students teamed up with Kindergarten to help get through the course.

The organising committee and all the parent volunteers did a fantastic job in providing such a wonderful, fulfilled, enjoyable and physical event for the students and we look forward to 2021 where we will get the next opportunity to do it all again.
