The Galston Glenorie Amateur Fishing Club (GGAFC) is a friendly, family oriented club whose members enjoy the timeless Aussie pastime of fishing. Whether it is in the river, harbour, dam, beach, or out in the open ocean there is always someone ready to weigh in a great fish.
We are a fairly relaxed club where you can choose how much or how little you would like to fish depending on how competitive you wish to be – it’s up to you.
We try to have at least one competition a month, sometimes two. Competitions start on a Friday at midday with a weigh-in held at the Galston Club on a Sunday afternoon. The Weigh-ins are always a lot of fun to see what other members have caught and a great chance to speak with some of the club’s more experienced anglers to get some extra hints and tips. Points collected throughout the year are tallied as anglers compete for the title of Club Champion.
We have a very strong emphasis on encouraging our junior members. There is nothing better than watching the kids weigh in the fish they have caught themselves and seeing them beaming with pride. We hold a dedicated kids’ competition each year with some really great prizes for every kid from our sponsors.
Our next competition will be the 15th-17th February with the weigh-in being Sunday 20th at 5.00pm in the outdoor area of the Galston Club. We invite anyone interested in seeing what we are all about to come and check us out; you can’t miss us in our green and gold shirts.
New members are always welcome. We look forward to meeting you. See our website at www.ggafc.com.au
