Enjoy A Picnic With A View

JULIAN LEESER MP – FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BEROWRA

Wisemans Ferry residents and visitors can now experience a picturesque picnic at Hawkins Lookout, following the construction of a new picnic shelter.

This shelter, which includes two tables with seating, was delivered in partnership with the Australian Government and The Hills Shire Council.

The Australian Government fully funded the project at a value of $29,442 through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program. This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia.

Federal Member for Berowra, Julian Leeser MP said the shelter was the perfect addition to the breathtaking lookout over the Hawkesbury River, which attracts people from all over the world.

“It was wonderful to visit the new picnic tables and shelter at Wisemans Ferry,” Mr Leeser said.

“This is a great example of the federal government and the local government working together. “We are very fortunate to have such a beautiful area in our electorate, which offers so many incredible experiences for families.

“If you haven’t yet visited Hawkins Lookout and seen the incredible view over the Hawkesbury River, the new picnic shelter is a perfect opportunity to make a visit.”

The Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, thanked the Australian Government for contributing to the project’s construction.

“The rural part of The Hills is a hidden gem, and Hawkins Lookout is one of the most spectacular lookouts in Sydney,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“The addition of the picnic shelter makes this site even better for families and will allow even more people to enjoy this incredible location.

“I encourage residents and families to pack a picnic and head to Wisemans Ferry. Better yet, purchase your food from our rural businesses and help give them a boost.”

In addition to the shelter at Hawkins Lookout, the Australian Government also provided $20,000 in LRCI funding to construct the picnic shelter at the popular Oxlade Reserve in North Kellyville.
