Sportsfields, Dog Park and Skate Area in The Gables Another Step Closer
The Central Playing Fields precinct is another step closer to reality following the adoption of three measures at Council last night. Council voted to enter into a funding agreement with the Department of Planning and Environment, enter into a delivery agreement with Stockland Developments and call for expressions of interest for a premier hockey partner for the proposed central playing fields in the Gables.
The proposed sportsfields precinct is located between Fontana Drive, Cataract Road and Red Gables Road – i.e. directly across Red Gables Road from Santa Sophia Catholic College. The proposed design features a variety of sporting and recreational activity spaces, including
– a dedicated hockey field with floodlighting
– a multi-use playing field with floodlighting (hockey, soccer or footy)
– multi-use courts; basketball, netball etc
– a futsal/warm-up area
– a fenced off-leash dog park
– amenities building with club room facilities
– car parking area
– junior adventure zone – swings, trampolines, and climbing frame
– teen zone – skate area, table tennis and outdoor gym
Construction is tentatively scheduled to commence in September 2022 with practical completion tentatively scheduled for June 2023.
