BROMELIAD SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA

The Bromeliad Society of Australia will hold their next meeting at George Bell Pavilion, Castle Hill Showground on Saturday, 9 February with plant sales commencing at 12noon. Access is off Showground Road into Doran Drive, Castle Hill.

Guest speaker will be Dave Wilson, beekeeper and member of the Amateur Beekeepers Association.

Dave will discus various details regarding the ABA including such facts as:

• Over 1000 recreational beekeepers in the greater Sydney region

• Newly developed flow hive has attracted many new beekeepers.

• All beekeepers must be registered with the NSW Department of Primary Industry

• All beekeepers get stung occasionally

• Diseases control in bees is a significant issue

• Bees are significant pollinators Dave and wife Wendy will bring along a range of honey products including their special honey for members and guest to purchase.

Meetings include plant sales, club news, raffles, competitions, show and tell, and a future bus trip also providing an opportunity to meet with likeminded people in a friendly and inviting environment.
