Fagan Park Receives $5,000 for Historic Displays

A local bank branch has handed over a sizeable gift to the people who look after one of Galston’s oldest buildings. The Bendigo Bank Community Branch at Galston has sponsored The Friends of Fagan Park with $5,000, which will go straight to new display showcases for the history room at Netherby Homestead, inside Fagan Park.

The volunteers will use the funds to buy the showcases and have them installed. Until now, the room’s historical artefacts have had to make do. Good cases do two jobs at once. They keep fragile objects safe, and they let visitors see them properly.

For the branch, the decision comes down to what a community bank is for. Staff say they are committed to backing local projects that protect the area’s history and improve the spaces people share. They describe Netherby Homestead as a local treasure, and they want the artefacts inside it looked after well enough for today’s visitors and for those who come long after.

The branch says it is proud to work alongside the dedicated volunteers behind The Friends of Fagan Park. It also points to where the money comes from. Because customers keep banking with the branch, it can put profits back into the town through upgrades like this one.
