The aquatic center beat out 24 other nominations nationwide to secure the number one spot in the Cohesive Communities Category at the National Awards for Local Government on Monday.
The centre was praised for its innovative design and inclusive programs, which make it accessible to people of all abilities. Waves offers a wide range of fitness and aquatic activities, including swimming lessons, water aerobics, and aqua therapy. The centre also has a sensory room and a dedicated space for people with disabilities.
The National Awards for Local Government recognise the outstanding achievements of local governments and their partners across Australia. The awards are presented annually by the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA).
