Wiseman’s Colonial Weekend

The township of Wisemans Ferry will be filled with a host of historical entertainments this coming May for the inaugural Wiseman’s Colonial Weekend. Solomon Wiseman himself welcomes colonial theatre, street entertainment, period buskers, artisan stalls, indigenous ceremony and classic colonial bush dance to the town along with the premiere of another two brand new ‘Theatre in the Wild’ productions from the Convict Footprints team over the weekend.

Partnering with the Wisemans Ferry Forgotten Valley Association and local sponsors including major sponsor Wisemans Ferry Real Estate Agents, Convict Footprints brings their unique brand of living history immersive entertainment to the picturesque riverside town with a day of roving street theatre culminating in the first premiere of the weekend as they launch a brand new production on the Saturday evening at the Wisemans Ferry Inn. The show includes a delicious Australian Spit Roast dinner and will be followed by a free fireworks display. The night continues on with classic colonial bush dance provided by the much celebrated Ozimaid Bush Band, with a prize for the best dressed gent and lady in colonial costume.

The fun continues Sunday as another brand new Convict Footprints show premieres at the amazing Tobruk Station with shows morning & afternoon – join them up the hill above the town for a bawdy historical romp through our country’s farming history as actors, stockmen, Jillaroos, sheep, dogs, horses, actors dressed as sheep… all come together in a wonderfully chaotic entertainment which includes a classic Australian bush BBQ lunch.

Bring the whole family on a trip back through time to Wiseman’s Colonial Weekend, 19th/20th May 2018 – a destination of historical events for all the family that’s sure to entertain as well as educate on a little of the area’s local history. Free entry to township/day events/stalls etc and fireworks. Tickets for either of the Convict Footprints shows/meals available online from www.tickets.convictfootprints.com.au

There are a wide variety of accommodation options available in the Wisemans Ferry area from the recently restored colonial quarters at the Wisemans Ferry Inn to family camping and cabins at Del Rio, and everything in between. See the Wisemans Ferry website or Facebook pages for more information.
