Thank you, Year 6 students!

Our students are so excited to try their new representative athletics singlets funded by our year 6 students. The Year 6 students in 2020, Izak, Ava and Aaleyah, all very keen athletes, decided our old representative singlets needed replacing.

To raise funds year 6 organised several mufti days as well as sell muffins, ice blocks during the week and a sausage sizzle every second Wednesday for lunch. The funds they raised plus what was raised by year 6 in 2021, despite lockdown, was used to purchase 36 new sublimated singlets for our athletes to wear when representing Hillside. The current and future students thank our former students for their generous fundraising.

At Hillside we have a strong focus on being active at school. All students this term have eagerly participated in a weekly gymnastics program run at school through the Sporting Schools program.

They have strengthened their skills and built on the routines learnt each week. It is just not organised activities our students enjoy participating in. Any recess or lunch you will see our students digging in the large sandpit, skipping with ropes, scrambling on the large climbing equipment, shooting hoops, or playing tennis on the court or just playing tip around the grassed areas.

During term 3 students and staff are participating in the 10 week Premier’s Sporting Challenge (PSC). The term will start with the Small Schools Athletics Carnival where we will be joining with Annangrove, Arcadia, and Middle Dural schools. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to join with their peers in friendly competition. Students 8 years and older, if they qualify will be able to represent Hillside at the Beecroft Zone Athletics Carnival being held at the Athletics Centre at Homebush later in the term.

Dance lessons will feature weekly, organised by an outside provider. These lessons are always a favourite with the students and staff. The senior students are looking forward to the second round of the NSWPSSA Touch Knockout against Waterfall Public School. The PSC aims to get more students and staff more active, more often. Hillside students and staff will definitely be more active, more often during Term 3.

The highlight of course next term will be the performance of our pantomime. Every student has a role in the fun filled musical theatre show. A wonderful occasion to spotlight the talent of all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. A wonderful tradition at Hillside School.

We are currently taking enrolments for 2023. It is wonderful seeing our future Kindergarten students visiting school and collecting their packages. Details of Orientation Days will be sent to all families early next term.
