Step back in time with Australia Day celebrations in the Sydney Hills

There’s no greater way to spend Australia Day than at the historic Bella Vista Farm in the Sydney Hills. The Shire’s hidden gem will be transformed from tranquil park to festive fair, with an Old Sydney Town flavour.

Step back in time and explore the local history of Australia. See Bella Vista Farm reimagined as the working Colonial homestead it once was with roving convicts and Australiana displays bringing the history to life.

Enjoy Devonshire Tea on the lawn of the Homestead served by The Friends of the Bella Vista Farm, catch blacksmithing displays, sheep shearing, whip cracking and working dog demonstrations from Tobruk Sheep Station, as well as historical displays by The Hills District Historical Society.

Australia Day at the farm will honour Australia Day traditions including a flag raising ceremony, Australia Day Awards ceremony and Australian citizenship ceremony for 50 new Australians. The Australia Day formalities will be conducted with the help of The Hills Shire Australia Day ambassador, TV personality and author Don Burke, OAM.

After exploring The Hills Shire’s rich local history you’ll be transported back to the twenty-first century for an evening of great entertainment and family fun.

The Australia Day main stage boasts an explosive musical line-up featuring performances from iconic Australian artists David Campbell and Band, Christine Anu, Mahalia Barnes and Emma Pask. Between performances Australia Day MC, performer and actor Scott McRae, will entertain and excite crowds. All finishing with a spectacular fireworks display.

Australia Day at the Farm also has some great activities for the kids, including face painting, balloon twisting, yard games, Storage King cubby house making, mobile animal farm, pop-up library, ‘Alice Paints the Roses Red’ show and hat making workshop, Tumbletown and more. And the best part is they’re free!

Australia Day showcases the best of the Sydney Hills community, offering a great day out for local families! Celebrate Australia Day 2016 at Bella Vista Farm with great entertainment, great displays, great activities and a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate all things Aussie and welcome the year ahead!
