Nursery and Garden Industry NSW and ACT Award Winners

The Nursery and Garden Industry NSW and ACT (NGINA) proudly announced the winners of its prestigious 2023 Industry Awards at a sell-out event at the Rydges Norwest in December. Esteemed Channel 9 Garden Gurus presenter, Bonnie-Marie Hibbs, graced the occasion as the host, adding a touch of glamour and expertise to the evening.

The Awards spotlighted the exceptional talent and dedication within the Nursery and garden sector, honouring a diverse group of professionals.

 

Anita Campbell, CEO of NGINA, admired the high standard of this year’s nominees. “The quality of entries we received this year was remarkable, setting a new benchmark for excellence in our industry. Each finalist demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, making the selection process incredibly challenging,” Ms Campbell remarked.

Two local businesses were among the winners: Large Wholesale/Production Nursery of the Year: Cameron’s Nursery

Sonja and Andy Cameron and their exceptional team manage an environmentally conscious nursery specialising in water-wise practices. They consistently produce top-quality stock adhering to industry NIASA and EcoHort accreditation standards.

Notably, they recently became the sole Nursery in NSW registered under the BioSecure HACCP program, showcasing their unwavering dedication to integrated pest management and ongoing improvement initiatives for both staff and the Nursery itself.

Their commitment extends to introducing new plant varieties to the Australian market. In addition, both Sonja and Andy actively contribute their time and expertise to various state and national committees and programs, furthering the advancement of the industry.

Employer of the Year: Cameron’s Nursery
Cameron’s Nursery clinched the prestigious Employer of the Year Award after a closely contested competition among three diverse finalists. The award recognises businesses fostering purpose and meaning in the workplace, emphasising practices that create a constructive, inclusive culture.

Cameron’s Nursery stood out for its commitment to building an inclusive culture, investing in team capabilities, and maintaining high levels of engagement in workplace health, safety, innovation, reflecting a genuine commitment to creating an inclusive and thriving workplace.
