News from KU Galston Preschool

What a busy start to the year! Over the last few weeks we have enjoyed welcoming new and familiar faces to preschool. The children have been getting to know each other, the educators and getting used to their new routines and becoming familiar with the preschool environment. It is so lovely to see them engaged in activities and developing a sense of belonging within the pre-school environment. At KU Galston Preschool we believe that children learn through play as it allows our children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine. Play in a supportive environment helps our children to expand their thinking and enhances their desire to know and to learn. Play also promotes positive dispositions towards learning such as curiosity, persistence, resourcefulness and to be able to solve problems. It is through our unique indoor/outdoor program that we support children in their play.

We celebrated Chinese New Year with our famous Dragon Dance throughout our playground and learnt many interesting facts about the Chinese culture including the significance of the lucky red envelope.

Next week we are holding a free Triple P Parenting program here at the preschool, the program goes for 5 weeks (21st Feb- 20th Mar) from 9.30am-11.30am. The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs in the world, backed up by more than 30 years of ongoing research. Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems developing. Triple P is currently used in 25 countries and has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups and in many different kinds of family structures. Please contact the preschool if you are interested in attending.

We currently have limited vacancies, please contact our director Rebecca on 9653 2252 or at [email protected] if you would like further information.
