Minister for Education, Dan Tehan, recently visited New Hope School in Dural for the announcement of funding which will be used to build new special needs classrooms, a breakout space and amenities for our local students.
“New Hope School has a wonderful school community, and the new facilities will further enhance the learning environment for students and teachers,” Mr Leeser said.
Dianne Dowson, the Director of New Hope School says, “The building project is designed to specifically meet the needs of students with a disability in its facilities, structure and design. The project seeks to provide an environment that contributes to a strong sense of community that provides high care and support for the students and their families. Spaces both within the building and externally aim to assist in catering for the various needs of the students as well as providing spaces for individual and group work.”
New Hope School began out of a desire to provide a highly supportive environment on the site of Pacific Hills Christian School, for those students who benefit from this level of support. New Hope School began in 2015. New Hope School aims to develop strong partnerships with the parents/ caregivers. Parents/caregivers are recognised as providing vital support and insight into the strengths, abilities and needs of their child. We value the input and support that we receive from parents as we partner with them to support the needs of their child.
Although NHS is a separate school, it is on the same campus as Pacific Hills Christian School and is part of this school community. There are many opportunities, both incidental and planned, for the two schools to participate in school life together.
