Neighbourhood Watch

Following community requests, a local Neighbourhood Watch group has been set up with representatives from Glenorie Progress Association, Arcadia Galston Residents Association and other local volunteers. If you are on facebook please like (and follow) our page www.facebook.com/NHWGGAD.

The purpose of this public facebook page, which anyone can like or follow, is to promote crime prevention, safety and security. The administrators will share posts from local emergency services to alert residents of events/scams, and share crime statistics as they become available.

In order for residents to share more personal experiences, the Administrators have set up a closed group attached to the Neighbourhood Watch public page. You will need to request to join this page, and the Administrators will try to ensure only geniune residents join the group. In this group you can be more open about your experiences, share photos, ideas on security options and the like.

The Police would like ALL crime or suspicious activity reported. If you fear someone is ON/IN your property, you should call Triple 000.

All other crime, regardless of how insignificant you think it is, can be reported to Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 Calls to Crime Stoppers can be made anonymously.

Report suspicious activity or non urgent minor crimes as soon as possible by ringing the Police Assistance Line (PAL) on 131 444. The types of crime you can report to the Police Assistance Line (131 444) include: break and enter, motor vehicle/vessel theft, stealing, malicious damage, including graffiti, lost property and fraud.

By phoning the Police Assistance Line (131 444), rather than your local police station, you are freeing up Police Officers who could otherwise be on the street actively preventing and investigating crime in your community.

Lets work together to combat this recent rise in crime in our area. Join the Neighbourhood Watch on facebook page. If you are not on facebook, an emailed newsletter will be offered plus a report each month in this community newspaper
