Hazard Reduction and Pile Burn Permits are Required

On the 1st of October, the commencement of the statutory bushfire danger period began. This means that you will be required to obtain a permit for hazard reductions and pile burns.

The process of obtaining a burn permit differs depending on your Council area.

Are you a resident of The Hills Shire Council?
If so, the first step of requesting a permit is contacting the Hills Shire Council via email or their website to request approval to burn. Once you have received approval from Council, contact your local Brigade for a permit.

We need to see evidence of approval before issuing a permit to burn. Once you receive a permit from your Brigade, you will be required to notify your neighbours 24 hours prior to any burns. You are also required to advice the RFS before your burn via www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.

Or just type ‘Approval to Burn a Pile of Vegetation’ into their website search bar to access more information. Once you have received your EPA certificate, contact your local Brigade for a permit. We will need to sight your certificate before a permit can be issued. You will need to give your neighbours 24 hour notice and advise the RFS via www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.
