Hawks Fly on Grand Final Day

Hills Hawks Softball Club has finished off the 2017/18 season on a high, with 5 out of 5 teams winning their respective grand finals.

The day began with our Modball B team, the GladiatorHawks, taking out the Mod B Major Championship, whilst our Modball A team, the MegaHawks fought hard against the Hornsby Wildcats to win 7-5 – and finish undefeated for the entire season.

Next up our BlackHawks dominated North Rocks to take out the Division 1 schoolgirls premiership, defeating North Rocks 7-0. Our B-grade ladies, the LegendHawks, defended their 2016/17 title defeating Thornleigh 16-0, in a dominant display of batting. In the A-grade grand final, the FireHawks defeated North Rocks 8-0 in a game where the score did not reflect its intensity. Coming down to the final innings, the FireHawks were able to bat their way to back-to-back premierships.

The day was wrapped up with a thrilling game with our C-grade ladies, the LadyHawks, defeating Hornsby Wildcats 13-12.

Not only did our teams have great success, 5 members of our club received perpetual awards: Georgia Heath took out the Modball A Pitching Award, Teoni Lamb was awarded the Junior Pitching Award with her older sister Kandra Lamb taking out the Senior Pitching Award and The Georgia Casey Outstanding Rep Achievement Award for her NSW and Australian representative honours.

Our volunteers were also acknowledged: Emily Simpson was awarded the Paul Wolf Trophy for Contribution to HDSA and Richard Gatt was awarded the Peter & Heather James Volunteer Trophy for Contribution to HDSA.

This season would not have been possible without our players, officials, parents, and of course our major sponsors Bendigo Bank Galston Community Bank, Hills Storage and Glenorie RSL Club. Hills Hawks Softball Club will be back for the 2018/19 season, so keep an eye out for registration details.
