Hawkesbury Local Heritage Assistance Fund applications for the 2026/2027 round have opened, giving Hawkesbury property owners a fresh chance to secure support for looking after the region’s heritage-listed buildings through the Heritage Grant.
Council is inviting residents who own heritage-listed properties within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area to put forward their projects before the window closes.
Grants are matched dollar for dollar, meaning every dollar an applicant puts toward their project is met with a dollar of funding, up to a cap of $5,000 per project. In cases where an owner can show that preservation work is urgent and that they simply don’t have the means to contribute matching funds, Council may still back the project without requiring that co-contribution.
Council pointed to past recipients as an example of what the fund can achieve on the ground. Earlier grants have gone toward stabilising slab barns, replacing timber verandas on heritage homes, and repairing gutters worn down by age on listed buildings.
A dedicated pool of funding has been set aside for the 2026/2027 program, with projects assessed on merit — weighing how urgent the preservation need is against the outcomes the work will deliver for the heritage item.
Applications close on Friday, 21 August 2026, and residents can find the application form and full guidelines on Council’s website.
