GERANIUM COTTAGE NURSERY AND CAFE

The Dale family have been growing geraniums for nearly forty years. Having graduated from accountancy and TV production Jim and Riva Dale together with their son Gary, have created what has become the largest wholesale supplier of geraniums in Australia.

Twenty years ago they purchased a rundown, heritage listed property, on Old Northern Road, Dural on which to establish a retail outlet for their plants. It was inevitable that a café/restaurant would become a natural extension to the site. Building the nursery and café was a DIY effort of the Dale family. The entire process took two years and a few sleepless nights but, with the help of local people and advice from a few professionals, the project slowly took shape. The main structure is slab built from Australian timbers. Now whilst Gary and his staff continue to run the wholesale production of geraniums, Jim, Riva and staff are fully engaged running Geranium Cottage nursery and café.

Geranium Cottage is a destination café. Customers can browse and purchase plants, buy gift lines and homemade jams, seek out antique garden tools in the old barn before enjoying an excellent coffee and a delicious snack or meal. The menus are constantly under review and a recent addition of another chef is contributing new ideas and upgraded efficiency in busy times. The cafe has a full licence to sell alcohol and allows BYO wine. There is excellent wheelchair access and toilets designed for the disabled. This makes Geranium Cottage a great destination for groups and is a popular venue for parties, special occasions and family functions. There is a sunny tea garden with full wait service, a large veranda which is capable of seating large groups and a dining room featuring a log fire in winter. All interior areas are fully air conditioned.

Geranium Cottage is open 7 days a week and on most public holidays.
