Galston High School Goes from Strength to Strength

Congratulations to the Principal, Teachers and staff at Galston High School for receiving yet another accolade from the Department of Education. Their 2017 NAPLAN results show Galston High School as one of the ‘most substantially improved schools in the state in 2017′.

This follows on from their remarkable HSC results where they were named by the Sydney Morning Herald in the top ten “biggest improvers in the HSC’ for 2 consecutive years”.

In the 2017 HSC results Chloe Skewes- Weir achieved a perfect score in English Extension 2, ranking her amongst the top 20 students in the state.

In the Advanced, Extension 1 and Extension 2 English courses Galston High ranked 11th in the state and is the top performing non-selective comprehensive, coeducational high school.

Kianna Munro won the Ministers Award for Excellence in Student Achievement. She also won the Vice-Chancellors leadership Scholarship at Western Sydney University worth $40,000.

The most prestigious of all scholarships at this university.

Matthew Moody had his Industrial Technology Major Work selected for exhibition at the Timber and Woodworking Show.

Zac Daniel was awarded the John Lincoln Memorial Medal as part of the Order of Australia honours for his outstanding work in the community.

As mentioned in the Minister’s recent letter, “the daily energy and resolve to improve quality practice, cater individually for student learning needs and inspire student excellence, is deserving of particular commendation. Your leadership as Principal is also driving impressive high standards as you cultivate a determined whole school commitment for stronger performance.”

Well done to Principal Jillian Tourlas, her deputies Lisa Pieper and Julia Petrulis and all their teachers and staff. You are doing a fantastic job!
