DO YOU HAVE A BOUNTIFUL GARDEN?

Galston the venue for internationally acclaimed floral designers in May.

7th May 2018

How do you use the flowers from your own garden to showcase your home? Which are
the best flowers to use for a special event? These questions and more will be answered
during demonstrations and workshops as part of the NSW Floral Art Association’s 11th
Floral Art Show at the Galston Community Centre later this month.

Held in a different location within NSW each time, the Show is the culmination of years
of competition and practice showcasing both artistic interpretation and floral design
talents of the competitors, many of whom have won prizes on the international stage
including Chelsea and World Flower Shows. This Show is a celebration of the
wonderful variety of flowers available within our own gardens and what you can do
with your “Garden’s Bounty” – the theme of the Show.

On Saturday May 26, Western Australia based designer Jean Shine will conduct both a
workshop and demonstration, then follow up on Sunday May 27 with another
workshop. If you are keen to learn how to use your garden’s bounty for a special event,
there is a Pinterest inspired demonstration as well as a children’s workshop on Saturday
at lunchtime.

“We’re delighted to be in the heart of Sydney’s best garden area for this show” NSW
Floral Art Association president, Kim Baillie said. “It’s an opportunity for us to show
what can be done with a few flowers to create a special atmosphere in your home or at
your next celebration. Every garden has a bounty that can be used.”

If you’re more interested in “just looking” there will be over 60 competition floral
designs from decorated chairs to floral handbags as well as the intricate work of
miniature (under 10cm) and petite (under 25cm) designs.

With a plant stall, morning and afternoon teas and a chance to talk flowers and gardens,
this a show not to be missed.
