Dr Aldenb Lorenzo – Visiting General Surgeon at Glenorie District Medical Centre

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dr Aldenb Lorenzo, our trained general surgeon and a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).

He will be joining the team of doctors at Glenorie District Medical Centre to perform the surgical procedures on Saturdays.

Glenorie District Medical Centre has been caring for the Glenorie community and surrounding areas for more than 30 years. To continue the tradition of the provision of the highest standards of care to the community at large, we would like to introduce the newest service that your medical centre will be offering: local excision of skin lesions, lumps and bumps!

Skin lumps and bumps can be secondary to a myriad of causes, including benign and malignant lesions. Benign lesions include warts, cysts, moles, sebaceous cysts and lipoma. Malignant ones include melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.

The first step is to be seen and examined by one of our qualified general practitioners to establish a working diagnosis. This can be achieved by simple examination with or without dermoscopy, and in some instances, a biopsy or shaving of the lesion may be required to determine the diagnosis.

Surgical excision has been the traditional method of removing such lesions. The major advantage of this method is that it removes the entire lesion, including the deeper tissues to ensure complete removal. The procedure is done in the Glenorie District Medical Centre under local anaesthesia or field block and you can go home the same day. To minimise the possibility of complications, we use a meticulous surgical technique and bipolar diathermy.

We are certain that Dr Aldenb Lorenzo will continue the delivery of quality medical and surgical care to the Glenorie community and the surrounding areas that GDMC has been offering the ommunity for decades.

Please call the medical centre on 02 9652 1663 to book an appointment. Check our website www.glenoriemedical.com.au for further information and to explore the other services that our practice has to offer the community.
