NAIDOC week or ‘National Aboriginal and Islanders Day of Observance Committee’ is celebrated during the first week of July. It’s a week when Australia celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and communities and recognises the valuable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make to our country.
Glenorie Pre-Schoolers took time to reflect on what life might look for people in other cultures with a close look at Aboriginal Culture. Initially it was hard for the children to comprehend that others may have a different way of living to them after all they are people just like them.
The children experienced dot art, making their own paint mud paint, involving in a yarning circle, listening to dreamtime stories and manipulating playdough with gumnuts, sticks and small stones.
If you are interested in enrolling your child at Glenorie Pre-School for 2018 then please contact our Director Belinda on 9652 2259 or pop in for a tour.
